Setting the Anchor Alarm Setting the Anchor Alarm

Setting the anchor alarm is a good practice to follow as it alerts you if the boat moves further than a predefined radius.

This video uses a common chartplotter to demonstrate how to set the anchor alarm. The chartplotter uses satellite technology to determine if the boat has moved more than a preset distance which is determined when setting the alarm.

When I set the alarm for my yacht, the distance I set it depends on the conditions I’m anchored in such as depth, current, tide, wind, how much anchor rode I have out.
